beer pong tournamentStop whatever you’re doing and pull out your calendar. Got it? Okay, now mark down the evening of Thursday, September 4th as “busy,” because you’re going to be playing cornhole, beer pong and/or flip cup with us at CVP Towson! Come out and grab dinner first and then stick around until 9 to get started with any of the games in the tournament. You don’t need to sign up in advance, but if you’d like to, feel free to give us a call to find out more about the tournament set up.

Some Rules

If you’ve never played any of these games before, don’t worry. We’ve got a lowdown on some of the rules here and we’ll go over the finer points with you if you’ve got any questions before the tournament. Be sure to ask about our house rules!

Cornhole: This game has become popular with people of all ages recently because it’s simple and fun. For cornhole, you have two slightly sloped boards with holes in the back; each team also gets 4 bean bags. You and your teammate will stand on opposite sides. You’ll then toss the beanbags from the sides of the boards. You cannot go past the front of the board or you’ll have a penalty called on your team. If a bag hits the ground and bounces on to the board, it does not count. Scoring can be a little complicated in cornhole. Any bag on the board is worth a point and a bag that goes through the hole is worth 3 points. However, the bean bags can cancel each other out. For example, if you get one beanbag on the board and the opposite team also gets a beanbag on the board, no one gets a point. Play to 21 points.

Beer Pong: This is the simplest of all of the games. Ten cups will be arranged on opposite sides of a table and filled with a small amount of beer (or water) in the bottom. You’ll have a team of two and the objective is to get your ping pong ball into the other team’s cups. You’ll stand with your teammate for pong. Your elbow may not extend over the table when you throw and if you bounce a ball, the other team is allowed to swat it off. Any other rules for beer pong are house rules. Cheers!

Flip cup: This one takes a bit of explaining. For more information on how to play flip cup, please visit this website.
